Yup, it's just a single pinecone. But it's SUCH a beautiful, intricate creation in nature! And did you know this one is the female cone?  It's what produces seed.

This Colorado pinecone was laying not 15 feet from the chipmunk you see in another painting on a white background. And I knew it was perfect to paint! And don't think it was easy--these small designs of nature take time and precision to capture.
