Have you ever been up Old Fall River Road in Rocky Mountain National Park? if you have, you’ll eventually discover that these cute creatures are also towards the top of that drive. But they are also around around Purgatory, Colorado. We were driving there right after the Ski season in early Spring, and voila--there was this "Rock Chuck" marmot peeking out from under a flattened pipe!! I grabbed my cell phone, snapped this picture, and knew it was going to be an alcohol ink painting!

This guy had probably only been out about a few weeks--they hibernate eight months from Fall until the weather just starts warming up...but "just warming up" in colorado can still mean it's cool. :)
